Friday, February 29, 2008

Futronic Technology Company Limited, a Hong Kong-based fingerprint biometric vendor, announced that its latest version of its FinLogon software supports Microsoft Vista and Windows 2008 Server.

FinLogon is fingerprint authentication software for Microsoft Windows Logon control using fingerprint biometrics. With the touch of a finger, users can logon Windows of local computer or Active Directory of Windows Server. The password is replaced with the fingerprint. There are two versions of FinLogon: Personal and Enterprise, to target different users and applications.

Besides Windows Logon control, FinLogon also includes two free software tools which come in the FinLogon Add-On. Its One Touch Password Filler can replace any “username + password” pair by a finger touch when logon to any Windows and Web-based software. There’s also Fingerprint File Encryption that can encrypt and decrypt files and folders by a finger touch. [end]

MIssouri-based GoldKey Security Corp. has released a smart card minidriver that supports Microsoft Crypto APIs and can be integrated with PKI applications.

The minidriver negates the need for additional software or middleware, enabling users to deploy two-factor authentication for Microsoft Active Directory. The authentication factors combine a physical token with a memorized PIN and can be used locally or via remote login.
