Gemalto completes acquisition of Trusted Logic

Gemalto announced that it has completed the acquisition of Trusted Logic from its founders and other shareholders. Gemalto, which already held 32% of the shares, aims with this transaction at accelerating the international development of Trusted Logic technologies. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.



Trusted Logic is an independent player in the digital security market, providing secure software for personal portable devices. Founded in 1999, Trusted Logic is a pioneer of the digital security world. With operations in France, Ireland, Singapore and South Africa, Trusted Logic employs approximately 100 people and revenue of more than $14 million in 2008.




Trusted Logic is organized in 3 businesses:

  • The PCD (Professional & Consumer Devices) division provides the leading Trusted Foundations, an execution environment selected by ARM and Texas Instruments for security-demanding applications. Trusted Foundations also extends the SIM card’s capabilities by providing enhanced secure interaction with the handset and the user.
  • The SST (Smart Cards & Secure Tokens) division markets the jTOP software suite for smart cards, USB keys and e-tokens.
  • Trusted Labs, a wholly owned subsidiary of Trusted Logic, offers security consulting and evaluation services and helps customers worldwide with the design and deployment of their next secure digital services.

Trusted Logic and Trusted Labs will continue to operate as separate entities with their own teams, products and services and under their own brand names. [end] 

Gemalto has announced that its “Allynis” Trusted Service Manager (TSM) solution has been selected to securely manage transactions on the Isis mobile commerce platform.

Isis, the mobile commerce joint venture between Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, will enable U.S. customers to pay, present loyalty cards, and redeem coupons all with a tap of their NFC-enabled phones. According to Sébastien Cano, seniro vice president at Gemalto North America, the TSM solution will enable Isis to securely deliver mobile payments along with a host of NFC services, including access control and mass transit in addition to couponing and loyalty.

FIME, an independent consulting and market integration testing service, has been selected by

digital security provider Gemalto to validate its UICC NFC 2.0 product. The goal is to achieve qualification status by GlobalPlatform, which launched its compliance program earlier this year.

VeriFone Systems has completed its acquisition of Point, Northern Europe’s largest provider of payment and gateway services and solutions for retailers.

According to VeriFone, Stockholm-based Point has operations in 11 European countries and serves a network encompassing nearly 475,000 merchant contracts. Through this network, Point offers retailers a range of multi-channel services and solutions, including point-of-sale technology and support, gateway services, card encryption services, and e-commerce processing.

Gemalto announced it has acquired M2M service provider SensorLogic in an asset arrangement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Plano, Texas-based SensorLogic has a cloud-based machine-to-machine (M2M) service delivery platform. With it, customers can build, deploy and manage M2M products through applications like asset tracking, servicing and telematics and equipment monitoring.
