Atmel Corporation announced a new micrcontroller for the smart card reader market, a security module and a crpto radio frequency starter kit.
The Atmel AVR microcontroller is designed for the smart card reader market, targeting the low-cost, high volume market. The AT90SCR050 includes an Atmel AVR microcontroller, 16 KB of ROM, USB FS2.0 and smart card interface with an integrated DC/DC to support cards compliant with the EMV L1 requirement and ISO7816. These features offer designers a system solution to help bring high-volume products to market at cost-effective price points.
The AT90SCR050 is a member of the AT90SCR family. With an Atmel AVR secure microcontroller embedded in these devices, customers can take advantage of the free AVR Studio and AVR JTAGICE mkII that support all AVR-based microcontrollers. An evaluation kit AT90SCR100MEB-01 is available for this device.
Atmel also announced its new VaultIC family of security modules for applications including femtocells, smart meters, telehealth, USB token and gaming platforms. The VaultIC460 is the first a module that provides a secure microcontroller with multiple interfaces and bundled firmware. The VaultIC460 provides 128KB of fully configurable EEPROM memory to store user data and match any security architecture.
The new VaultIC family offers designers enhanced functionality, a new interface with rapid computation of all standard cryptography algorithms, and higher security to protect both the keys and data. These products are designed to meet Common Criteria EAL4+ and FIPS 140-2 level 3 certifications to provide high security, performance and lower power consumption.
Atmel also released the AT88CK201STK Starter Kit. The AT88CK201STK kit enables developers to extend secure high-frequency RFID reader capabilities to embedded microcontroller systems. ![[end]](/resources/bullet/digitalidnews-4.gif)
