Won J. Jun, an expert in smart card systems and Identity and access management, has joined ID Technology Partners. Jun’s record includes working on government and commercial contracts including federal, state, military, telecommunications, energy, transit and financial sector projects.

ID Technology Partners is a consulting firm with a focus on the secure authentication industry. Jun has experience in elements such as smart cards, public key infrastructure, ID credentialing, biometrics, independent verification and electronic benefits transfer. [end]

Lumidigm partners with IdentyTech

Lumidigm has announced that it has entered a partnership with identity solutions distributor IdentyTech Solutions for distribution in Israel.

The new agreement will see IdentyTech’s terminals and other identity solutions integrated with Lumidigm’s multispectral fingerprint scanners, which use both surface and subsurface fingerprint data for a more accurate print match in both good and poor environments. OTI granted U.S. patent for contactless 'Smart SIM'

On Track Innovations has received a U.S. patent for adding contactless capability to existing mobile handsets through contactless SIM technology.

U.S. Patent No. 8,090,407, aka “Contactless Smart SIM,” covers the capabilities necessary to turn existing mobile handsets into NFC-enabled devices through the use of a SIM card and a specifically designed antenna, all while keeping the phone and operating system “fully agnostic,” says OTI.

Infineon unveils 65nm eFlash microcontroller

Infineon Technologies has released the first samples of its 65 nanometer embedded flash (eFlash) microcontrollers for chip card and security applications.

Co-developed by TSMC, the microcontroller features a 65 nm footprint that provides greater efficiency over former IC technologies, according to Infineon. The partners have also announced the development of new 300 mm wafers as a more efficient alternative to 200 mm models.
