Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Entrust Inc. introduces a new authentication method geared toward combating man-in-the-browser attacks and hazardous malware. IdentityGuard Mobile features authentication solutions to consumer and enterprise bankers who own smart phones.

The IdentityGuard product in collaboration with Entrust TransactionGuard markets itself as begin able to target the problems antivirus and traditional authentication software has yet to address or solve.

Currently Entrust offers three capabilities for stopping attacks by Zeus and other man-in-the-browser malware. The first capability is the behavioral and transactional fraud detection, also offered is the SMS authentication with transaction details and the third feature is the out-of-band transaction verification and signature.

This product reaches a market of growing need for stronger authentication. The FBI has stated that more than $40 million in actual online transaction losses in the U.S. last year, stemmed from attacks on corporate banking for small- to mid-sized organizations.

Entrust offers a method that doesn’t require the use of external delivery services on mobile phones such as SMS. However, other options include the ability to store and save transaction history and enable organizations to incorporate their brand into the specific application.

IdentityGuard features compatibility with the Apple iPhone, RIM BlackBerry, Microsoft Windows Mobile and Symbian (Java) and is currently scheduled for mass release in the summer 2010 as part of the release of Entrust IdentityGuard 9.3. [end]
