Trüb AG expands its range of EMV smart card solutions

Trüb AG of Switzerland has announced the release of CombOS DI, a dual-interface operating system providing “secure, rapid and reliable” payment functionalities for EMV cards.

CombOS DI allows both contact-based and contactless payment transactions with MasterCard debit or credit cards on a single chip, as well as other applications including loyalty and ticketing.

CombOS DI features a processing rate of 500 milliseconds per transaction, compact design, is compliant with EMV CPS, and is compatible with the current CombOS SDA or CombOS DDA models, allowing for easy transition to CombOS DI. [end]

Kosovo launches biometric passports powered by Trüb

Kosovo has begun issuing new biometric passports powered by chip technology from Switzerland’s Trüb AG.

The Balkan nation of 1.7 million has contracted the Austrian State Printing House (OeSD) to manufacture the new passport booklets and integrate Trüb’s the polycarbonate film datapages, which contain an ICAO-compliant antenna and chip module that stores the document holder’s personal data, a facial image and two fingerprints.

Survey: Germans coming around to NFC, contactless payments

A new survey from Euro Kartensysteme shows that Germans are starting to embrace the idea of contactless and NFC payments.

Out of 1,040 Germans aged 18-59, 43% responded that they would like to make contactless payments if given the opportunity, of which 58% percent would make their payments with a debit card card, 41% with a credit card and 50% with an NFC phone.
