Quintron adds logical access component

Friday, April 8, 2011

Quintron Systems Inc., a provider of physical access control and intrusion detection systems, announced its new version of AccessNsite PACS provides a logical access control solution via Microsoft’s Active Directory.

The converged solution will require a user to have a smart card and enter a user name and password before enabling access to computer networks and files.

This solution aims to satisfy a IT security compliance standards by requiring the use of the token used for facility access control to also be used for workstation or thin client access. The goal in this solution was to both raise the security level of existing client login process while increasing the user convenience through eliminating the need to memorize sets of user names and passwords.

Increased convenience means increased compliance with both internal security processes and compliance with existing and emerging IT security regulations such as PCI, SOX, HIPPA and others. [end]

The February meeting of the influential Government Smart Card Interagency Advisory Board (IAB) was recently held in Washington D.C.
