Report: Smart phone security software market to Reach $2.99 Billion by 2017

Monday, May 2, 2011

Smart phones are beginning to face the same problem computers continue to battle. Mobile data has exploded of late, and with that, the potential to lose sensitive information has become an ever increasing problem, according to research from Global Industry Analysts Inc.

End users can do their part by setting encryption and passwords locally or locking their devices. Other measures include carefully screening downloads. However, one can only do so much to protect their information.

Malicious code and viruses are becoming more prevalent on mobile devices, an attempt to steal information, and corrupt the normal operation of said devices. In fact, it has already begun on a small scale.

Revenue growth has an almost unlimited growth potential, as the consumer market has only reached 23% saturation. On the enterprise side, we have yet to see much mainstream adoption of mobile security software, although this is speculated to explode soon.

Companies looking to safeguard their employees and company information will undoubtedly be major adopters of mobile security.
