Trustwave has released a mobile two-factor authentication product, reports the Web Host Industry Review. Called MyIdentity, it uses a variety of authentication mechanisms to provide two-factor authentication within the cloud.
MyIdentity supports network or application authentication. Customers can utilize self-service enrollment and authenticate from desktops, laptops, smartphones and remotely.
When the product is deployed, users log into a network with their existing username and password. Then the MyIdentity feature asks the user to select one of five different authentication options to enable the second layer of security. Choices for this options are digital certificates, SMS-based authenticator codes, voice call-back, MyIdentity push with confirmation screen or MyIdentity Mobile.
The product doesn’t use physical tokens, and Trustwave claims that the variety of authentication options cuts down on administrative needs.
