Arcot selected to service Evangelical Christian Credit Union

Arcot System’s cloud authentication service, A-OK On Demand, has been selected as Evangelical Christian Credit Union’s (ECCU) official online transaction security system.

The software from Arcot was said to meet all the needs of ECCU’s online banking system which included software-only PKI security. Account holders at ECCU in more than 100 countries now utilizing A-OK will have greater protection against fraud with the implantation of Arcot’s WebFort authentication. 

Novell and idOnDemand partner to deliver single sign-on solution

A new partnership between idOnDemand and Novell produces a PIV smart card and single sign-on solution for secure login systems. Customers utilizing the product will be able to access to all their security barriers with the use of a single PIV smart card.

The product features login to corporate IT resources, login through a VPN, and authenticate to legacy internet services, as well as services with SAML and Open ID compatibility.

The U.S. Air Force has made some changes to the security policies regarding Blackberry devices, according to a Wired report. The agency is locking the devices down and requiring that the Defense Department Common Access Card be used for authentication.

The Air Force also disable most of the Bluetooth functions with the Blackberry and Window Mobile devices, except for the smart card reader that uses the transmission protocol to communicate with the device. Common Access Cards will be used with the devices to sign and secure emails. 

Hirsch revs up Velocity's functionality

Hirsch Electronics, a security systems manufacturer, announced the company is extending the functionality of its flagship security management system, Velocity, to include IT-oriented identity and card management capabilities.

Specifically, Velocity will interface with certificate authorities and Active Directory to create smart cards that can be used for secure computer log-on and door access control. A preliminary version of the new converged security solution will be available for live demonstrations at Hirsch’s ISC West booth. 

ActivIdentity, Intercede settle patent cases

ActivIdentity Corp., a provider of strong authentication and credential management, and Intercede Ltd., a developer and supplier of identity and credential management software, announced that they have entered into a patent license agreement on mutually acceptable terms.

This patent license agreement settles the patent infringement case brought by ActivIdentity before the U.S. District Court of Northern California, and a related case brought by Intercede in the United Kingdom High Court. Details of the license agreement are confidential. 

Keylok uses 'hackproof' smart card hardware for new dongle

Software security products provider Keylok has upgraded its Fortress dongle to contain secure “Code Porting” technology on the device’s smart card.

With the updated dongle, developers can now port up to 10,000 lines of executable code to be safely locked in the device, where it will execute and return results to the application running on the computer.

Austrian-based online payment organization paysafecard selected Entrust Inc. and the Entrust IdentityGuard authentication platform to secure its mobile workforce.

Facilitated by Entrust partner CorTEC IT Security Solutions GmbH, paysafecard uses Entrust IdentityGuard and three types of strong authentication — one-time-password (OTP) tokens, credit card-sized OTP display tokens and SMS soft tokens — to properly authenticate remote access users via VPN.
