Trustwave, a provider of on-demand data security and payment card industry compliance management solutions to businesses and organizations, has unveiled a token-less two-factor authentication solution.

Trustwave’s on-demand two-factor authentication solution couples digital certificates, representing user’s identities, with an existing Virtual Private Network.

Trustwave’s on-demand two-factor authentication solution reduces the typical costs associated with token-based authentication, while also eliminating the need to track inventory and maintain associated hardware and software. The solution leverages existing infrastructure and is managed via a Web portal. [end] 

VASCO unveils multi-application security model

VASCO Data Security Inc., a software security company specializing in authentication products, launched its multi-application security model.

The model is designed to offer an enterprises’ employees and customers secure access to multiple applications with the use of one DIGIPASS hardware or software credential. The authentication and signature ID is stored in VASCO’s IDENTIKEY server. VASCO launched the multi-application model at the CARTES tradeshow in Paris.

Sesames' winners announced

The winners of the 2009 Sesames were announced before the opening of the CARTES & IDentification exhibition in Paris. Gemalto was the only company to take home more than one award, winning Sesames for best hardware and mobile application.

The winner for best hardware was awarded to Gemalto, Leti and Raisonance for their contactless smart card reader. The F@CIL is a joint effort of Gemalto, CEA Leti and Raisonance, and provides a high data rate standard. Building on existing standards for data rates up to 848 Kbps, the readers components promise 10 Mbps, secure transfer for contactless smart cards and systems in identity, health care and peer-to-peer applications.

DHS taps Entrust, XTec to deploy PKI, smart card login

Entrust Inc. will provide the unified security infrastructure for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This agreement helps DHS enable cost-savings, meet HSPD-12 requirements, encrypt communications and data, and deploy secure credentials for both physical and logical access.

Facilitated by partner XTec Inc., who is the HSPD-12 solution provider for DHS, the Entrust deployment will provide PKI services and digital certificates for all DHS components and their employees. The two-year implementation will leverage Entrust’s PKI architecture, Entrust Authority, as well as Entrust Entelligence Security Provider and XTec’s AuthentX platform for the management and secure distribution of the agency’s internal digital certificates. These certificates will provide DHS proven smart card login, network authentication, as well as encryption for e-mail and desktop environments.
