The Smart Card Alliance has released a report detailing the criteria for “meaningful use” of electronic health records and how health care providers can attain it. 

VolCorp deploys VASCO DIGIPASS GO 6 to secure access to its online application

VASCO announced that Volunteer Corporate Credit Union (VolCorp) uses VASCO DIGIPASS GO 6 in combination with VACMAN Controller to secure access to VolCorp Online, an online application for member credit unions.

Over 2,500 credit union users have now been equipped with a customized DIGIPASS GO 6 enabling them to securely log-on to VolCorp Online, replacing the use of static passwords with dynamic one-time passwords.

LifeNexus unveils personal health card at HIMSS11

LifeNexus has plans during the HIMSS11 conference to introduce a new electronic health card designed to maintain an individual’s personal health record and provide payment card options all on the same card, according to HealthcareITNews.com.

The company will give out 1,000 of these cards to attendees at the show, embedded with the company’s Individually Controller Health Information Platform (iChip) technology, which uses mobile server technology that is both encrypted and password-protected. Also on the card is a digital credential that assures the protection of identity and privacy, and thereby reduces fraud. 

Direct-to-card printer adds dual-sided lamination, security

One of Digital Identification Solutions’ newest printers, the EDIsecure DCP 360+ Direct Card Printer, builds upon the company’s already developed line while adding new features such as dual-side lamination and smart card encoding for both contact and contactless technologies, explains Jonathan Bowen, product marketing manager at the company.

“More and more of the market, especially the smart card market is wanting to put laminate on the backside of the card to protect it against abrasion, dye migration and just wear and tear,” says Bowen. Dual-sided lamination is also effective than single-sided lamination in preventing card warping. [end]
